Companion animals, dogs and cats, were domesticated by humans thousands of years ago with the tacit agreement that we would be responsible for their welfare. The APA of MO takes that agreement to heart. Pets provide an unbounded friendship that is warm and caring and less competitive than the experience of human friendship. They are generous in spirit and ask for only a few basic needs to be met - good nutrition, good health care and good friends. Why not visit the shelter and adopt a friend for life?
